I was nervous going into the race because Lion King tickets meant that my pre-race routine would take a beating! No reservations left at any of the near-by Italian restaurants meant that we were having sushi for dinner and very little sleep with the 7:00 opening time!! It was a great show though and totally worth it. The kids loved it!!
My training and mindset hasn't been the best going into this race and that coupled with the Lion King the night before and no carb loading would mean that the race was a challenge for the first four miles. I tried to down as many shot bloc as I could and focus on finishing. So glad that I sucked it up and the hubs and I finished at an okay time. We were even able to keep our feet dry insipte of the rain all the way up to mile 6.5. That's when we encountered puddles of pooling rain and inconsiderate runners who splashed through them and sent water into our shoes!!
After the race I ran into the best 6th grade teacher ever, Rene Mansho. She still looks exactly the same!!!!
So glad to be able to participate in such an awesome run!!!
