Mariner's Ridge Hike 7.3.13

A new hike today!!!  My little jedi paduan decided to join us and he rocked it!  Lots of swinging from trees, a little yoga, some trail running and a great time exploring our beautiful aina.  I love that he loves to keep active!!!

This is a hike that I would love to repeat again and again. There's so much to see and explore and out of all of the hikes we've done, this one seems the safest.  The earth is compact and there are roots that serve as natural stairs.  The paths are also wide and on our hiking day were dry.  Much of the path is also shady so the hike was cool.  I do have to caution that the elevation on this hike is high and your legs will get a good workout.  You will be climbing vertically for much of the hike.  It is about 1.7 miles to the summit and it will take you awhile to get up there, but once you are up there the view is phenomenal!!  We were able to see all the hikes that we've done in the last month:  Kokohead, Makapu'u, and the islands off of PillBox.  We were also amazed to see two hikers on another gorgeous peak.  We weren't sure how they got there but tried to find the trail.  Imagine our surprise when they scaled the cliff we were standing on!  YIKES!!!

All in all, it was an amazing day spent with my boys.  Thankful for summer!!!
